    *This is an on-call/as-needed part time position with no guaranteed hours.  The incumbent can be scheduled from 0 - 20 hours per week. This position is based out of Los Angeles and should reside in the Los Angeles area.*

    Child Welfare Development Services (CWDS) provides workforce development, organizational support, technical assistance and capacity building for the public child welfare staff of Southern California counties. These services include coaching, simulation, classroom training, eLearning and evaluation services. Workforce development services consist of development opportunities  for new social workers, the existing workforce, supervisors, managers and executive level leadership as well as community partners and multi disciplinary partners working closely with child welfare agencies.


    Please note: some duties may include working with and/or exposure to sensitive/traumatic topics or material dealing with child abuse, elder abuse and/or issues and scenarios related to mental health or substance abuse.


    Provide general support for training site operations. This includes: supporting trainers and trainees; managing the training environment; and various on and off-site tasks and preparation of training materials and equipment.


    Training Support (95%)

    Training Hosts are responsible for supporting on-site delivery of days of training to County Child Welfare Workers.  This includes:

    • Manage the delivery of training in an adjunct site, including attendance, continuing education qualification, evaluation and record keeping processes
    • Assure training environment is kept in clean organized manner on a daily basis
    • Support trainer’s needs: assuring training equipment is working properly; assisting with off-site coordination
    • Manage trainee’s needs in an adjunct setting
    • Purchase snacks for trainings on and off-site, process and submitting all food receipts to Alvarado office and maintain detailed records
    • Ensure curriculum delivery meets best practice standards
    • Observe and evaluate the trainer’s delivery of the curriculum via a Training Observation Form
    • Respond to unanticipated events associated with offsite training delivery
    • Administer pre- and post-tests as appropriate for Core training
    • Travel within and around California counties of Los Angeles and Orange.
    • Establish and maintain a positive team work environment in all training and office settings
    • Move Audio/Visual and training equipment and move tables and chairs (weighing up to 50 pounds) for various classrooms and event’s needs


    Other duties as assigned by supervisor or management (5%)


    Knowledge and Abilities

    • Thorough written and oral communication skills, including English grammar, spelling, and punctuation;
    • Ability to apply independent judgement, discretion, flexibility and initiative to address problems and develop solutions;
    • Competence in understanding, interpreting, and communicating procedures, policies, information, ideas and instructions
    • Proficient in the use of technological equipment, computers, and computer applications (experience with power point software application desirable);
    • Ability to understand standard office procedures; to operate standard office equipment and software packages; to learn office technology systems; to perform basic arithmetic calculations; and typing and keyboard skills
    • Ability to work cooperatively with others in a collaborative environment;
    • Thorough organizational skills
    • Welcoming/personable demeanor
    • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally
    • Ability to present a valid driver’s license and daily access to a personal vehicle as local travel is required of the position 95% of the time

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Previous experience in an office or administrative environment.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
    • Some experience in a training environment
    • Knowledge of child welfare issues
