    The Academy for Professional Excellence, a project of San Diego State University School of Social Work, was established in 1996 to support the health and human service community by providing training, technical assistance, organizational development, research, and evaluation. Serving over 4,000 people annually, the Academy continues to grow with new programs and a diversity of training focused on serving the health and human services community in Southern California and beyond.


    Behavioral Health Education & Training Academy (BHETA), provides County of San Diego Behavioral Health System with staff development services that will increase competency in culture, co-occurring disorders, family centered services and resiliency as is required to outreach, assess, and support the recovery of severely mentally ill adults, children, and their families. Funded via a contract with County of San Diego Mental Health MHSA, through Workforce Education and Training, training and technical assistance and MHSA Prevention and Early Intervention funding. BHETA is part of a network of services made available by the county to behavioral health service providers.  Under the supervision of the BHETA Assistant Program Manager the Administrative assistant will provide general office support, training logistics, and event coordination.




    • Scheduling, preparing for and conducting follow-up associated with project planning meetings
    • Coordinating, scheduling and logistics for trainings and events
    • Provide administrative support to BHETA leadership team
    • Event planning and organizing administrative support for major events
    • Organizing materials and equipment for trainings
    • Assisting with set-up, hosting and registrations at training sites
    • Developing marketing, orientation and training materials
    • Frequent professional correspondence with training participants
    • Using office support technology and systems such as word processing, desktop publishing, and spreadsheets, to produce results and prepare documents
    • Printing, filing and faxing documents
    • Processing standard and electronic mail
    • Creating and maintaining standard and electronic records, files and record keeping systems
    • Taking minutes and preparing agendas
    • Performing other office support and maintenance activities as needed
    • Review and approve user accounts
    • Register training participants in the Learning Management System
    • Enter program evaluation and attendance data
    • Compile reports on program statistics
    • Correspond with training participants




    • Previous experience in an office or administrative environment


    • One year of experience in an administrative/clerical position
    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • Bilingual in Spanish
    • Basic knowledge of databases
    • Familiarity with a Learning Management System
    • Familiarity with Qualtrics
