  • Overview

    This Statement of  Work covers  the  need  for  the services  of a college student to provide technical and/or analytical support in the field of computer science for the OFFensive Swarm-Enabled Tactics (OFFSET) project. The purpose of this project is to design, execute, and assess experimentation of tactics for  swarms  of  robotic  air  and ground vehicles. The project includes development of a hardware / software testbed to support a concept of swarm experimentation-in-a-b ox. This seeks to standardize  and automate test elements that can be aggregated and composed to elicit sophisticated swarm behaviors (tactics) . The project includes field test events every six months where the developed testbed is used to exercise new capabilities in robotic swarms.


    • Reviewing, analyzing and documenting specific operational proced ures, and/or performing feasibility studies for the OFFSET project
    • Designing, developing, testing, and documenting computer modeling and/or architecture for the OFFSET project
    • Writing, testing and documenting code. Performing programming functions
    • Developing web applications and Creating or upgrading websites and/or web pages and graphics for the OFFSET project.
    • Installing and integrating software applications and hardware components. Resolving workstation hardware and software challenges .
    • Performing hands-on field work for the OFFSET project
    • Preparing documentation of tests and/or analysis for the OFFSET project.
    • Assisting senior scientists and engineers in providing presentations and demonstrations of the testbed. 


    (2) Undergraduate Student 2: Must have course work in the discipline requested on the task order Statement of Work. The student must be at the Junior or Senior level and have experience in 50% of the task requirements and be able to accomplish 50% of the work independently.

    • Computer Science major (Junior or Senior)

    Required Course Work:

    • Data Structures and Algorithms
    • Drsign and Analysys of Algorithms 


    Additional Qualifications Desired:

    • Linux
    • Git
    • Python - Object-orientated design
    • Django / Django Rest Framework
    • Celery and Supervisord 
    • HTTP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and REST API concepts
    • Experience with small computing platforms such as Raspberry Pi




    This position will require the employee to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance

    Due to the regulations established by the Department of Defense, only US Citizens may qualify
    This is a student position and is limited to working 20 hours per week
