  • Overview

    Work independently, and in partnership with a county, to provide field based training/coaching to public child welfare staff to support transfer of learning and to develop specialized training, projects, and capacity for best practice on state and county initiatives for the Public Child Welfare Training Academy (“PCWTA”). This position works closely with the county consultants to coordinate regional needs and county specific coaching needs. This position works full time from a home office and requires travel to county offices during the work day. This position will serve Riverside County.

     

     

    Responsibilities

    REGIONAL COACHING 70%

    • Facilitate field based training/coaching sessions that are non-judgemental, strength based, learner led, and solution focused to support the transfer of learning from the classroom to field work
    • Develop coaching plans/goals for counties and for individuals
    • Play a strong role in implementation of coaching and evidence based practices
    • Maintain current understanding of new state initiatives in order to provide consultation and coaching
    • Remain current on regional issues: Review documents/reports, SIP, new county initiatives, policies, procedures; represent/remind regarding EBP, F&E issues, etc.
    • Provide monthly coaching reports to the county
    • Work with trainer/coach/SME to ensure county needs are met
    • Assure all county needs are explored and met as appropriate to the scope of the contract (this may include, based on county need AND Practice Consultant availability and capacity, occasional after hours or weekend sessions to meet with those staff; in the event that this is needed the practice consultant will not work more than their allotted hours in any given work day)
    • Participate in ongoing supervision to ensure coaching fidelity and growth
    • Work collaboratively with other coaches/coaching supervisors
    • Support coordination of coaching
    • Other duties as assigned

     

    PROGRAM SUPPORT 30%

    • Participate in planning for the integration of new state initiatives and regulations in anticipation of the impact on child welfare in the Southern region
    • Provide training as a subject matter expert on numerous topics
    • Participate in the review of and/or development of training curriculum
    • Facilitate meetings as needed, both internally and externally
    • Provide support for hiring experts/consultants as needed
    • Serve as a partner to leadership and staff development departments of the county
    • Work closely with the County Consultant to ensure there is ongoing partnership, communication, and that the needs of county are being met
    • Lead and/or assist with special projects as designated/specified by leadership team

    Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Equivalent to a master’s degree in appropriate field related to program/project.
    • Six years of experience, two years of which were in a position with high level of responsibility and requiring specialized skills.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

     

    • Six years of progressive responsibility/experience in the field of child welfare or a social service agency closely related
    • Experience in the role of a facilitator
    • Previous experience in child welfare
