    IT Support Analyst (Info Tech Consultant-Foundation), SDSU Research Foundation

     

    The most user-facing member of the Information Systems team - triage, research, and resolve computer- and application-related issues in a professional manner through direct customer interaction and achieve satisfactory resolution of issues utilizing support tools, service management software, diagnostic tools, and best-practices with regards to root-cause analysis, identifying trends, and escalation when necessary. Additionally, this role owns and operates the Foundation help ticket system, Desktop and Laptop Imaging, Patch Management, and Inventory systems.  This role operates in a highly collaborative environment and has extensive input on the service desk role and practice within the guidelines of pre-established policy and procedure.

     

    SPECIAL NOTES:

    This position may require occasional overtime or scheduling on nights and weekends.

    This position is not eligible for remote work.

    Responsibilities

    END USER SUPPORT

    • Primary responsibility to provide desktop and application support for end-users with hardware, software, mobile devices, and other technologies used by the Foundation
    • Answers and responds to support calls, walk-ups, service and incident tickets, and email.
    • Administration and use of Workstation Management, Inventory, Patch Management, and Antivirus solutions
    • Recommend and participate in evaluations for new software, tools, and systems
    • Advise and give recommendations with regard to the Workstation and Laptop lifecycle
    • Documents all support efforts in the ticketing system
    • Installs, tests, and configures laptops, workstations, software, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment
    • Troubleshoots and repairs hardware and software issues on end user computers and peripherals, engaging the vendor for support when necessary
    • Maintains an inventory of all end-user-related equipment, software, and licenses
    • Creates, modifies, and manages Active Directory objects such as Passwords, User and Computer accounts, and related Group Policy
    • Plan and conduct product, technical, and security-related user training as needed
    • Manage Communication with other service desks across campus
    • Participation in, and advocate for, an ITIL-oriented service management system
    • Maintain Conference Room projection systems, LCDs, webcams, and other conferencing equipment

    DESKTOP SUPPORT

    • Develops, tests, manages, and deploys workstation and laptop images including Operating System, Software, and Plug-in installations and relevant configurations
    • Basic System and Network troubleshooting, escalating to appropriate administrators when necessary
    • Recommend, develop, deploy, and maintain client automation and self-service tools
    • Implement and maintain Windows and Third-Party software updates and patch schedules including testing, certification, and deployment
    • Powershell and Batch Scripting
    • Application Packaging and Deployment
    • Configuration Management and Baselining of all Workstations and Laptops

    OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AS ASSIGNED 

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or similar certified coursework in applicable fields of study. 

    Preferred Experience:

    • Minimum two years Desktop Support or related experience
    • IT Industry Certifications highly desired
    • Previous experience working with current PC hardware and software technologies
    • Previous experience with Windows OS, common applications, and email clients
    • Experience in one or more desktop imaging systems
    • Previous experience with Office 365 Platform, AWS, Azure, or other cloud platform desirable
