  • Overview

This Statement of Work covers the need for the services of a college student to provide technical and/or analytical support in the fields of Computer Engineering, Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering focused on optical propagation modeling for the Mixed Model Optical Propagation for Intelligent Resource project. The purpose of this project is to develop an easy-to-use, modular modeling system for optical propagation of laser beams for directed energy applications.  This shall include broadband non-linear effects for short-pulse propagation, requiring implementation of significant parallelization for high performance computing (HPC) application.

    • Technical Requirements: The contractor shall assist the work sponsor in:
    • Designing, developing, testing and documenting computer modeling and/or architecture.
    • Designing, exercising and/or testing models utilizing stimulation, simulation, emulation, numerical and statistical analyses
    • Writing, testing and documenting code. Performing programming functions and parallelizing current
    • Preparing engineering drawings and schematics. Generating computer aided drawings or performing computer aided

Graduate Level 2: Computer Engineering, Computer Science, and/or Mechanical Engineering major (working on Master’s or PhD).

    Required Course Work:

    • Computational Fluid Dynamics
    • Numerical Methods for Diffraction Equations

    Additional Qualifications desired:

    Experience with:

    • Differential and non-linear numerical computation in Fortran (including Intel

    Fortran Compiler)

    • Large system numerical computation on HPCs.
    • It is preferable that the student possesses a High Performance Computing Modernization Program Portal to the Information Environment (HPCMP pIE) account for DoD HPC access.

This is a student position and is limited to working 20 hours per week
This position will remain open until filled
