Overview

The SDSU Research Foundation WIC Program is the largest WIC agency in San Diego County which provides a variety of nutritional services to over 34,000 participants on a monthly basis with approximately 80 employees.

 

The WIC Local Vendor Liaison and Project Coordinator is responsible for monitoring and providing support to authorized vendors for compliance will all state/federal requirements as a WIC authorized vendor. The position also provides support to education, training, breastfeeding and outreach projects.

 

 

Responsibilities

The WIC Local Vendor Liaison is responsible for but not limited to:

 

SITE VISIT AND VENDOR SUPPORT 65%

Responsible for monitoring and providing technical assistance to local WIC authorized vendors; tracks records from store visits; resolves participant complaints and completes required follow up with external customers if applicable; provides vendors with WIC program changes and updates; directs WIC vendors to appropriate state WIC representatives for assistance with vendor agreements; provides training to stores as needed.  Conducts onsite preauthorization visits for vendors applying to be a WIC Authorized Vendor; processes vendor survey request from California WIC program. Maintains good working relationships with the California WIC Program and local vendors.

 

PROJECT COORDINATION 30%

Provides support to education, training and breastfeeding projects. Assist in coordination and facilitation of staff meetings and mandated trainings. Assist Managers in coordinating outreach activities including, but not limited to, trainings at medical offices, community agencies, DHS and DSS offices.

 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES AS ASSIGNED 5%

May participate in trainings provided by the WIC program; participates in the enrollment and/or certification process of participants and other direct service duties as needed.

Qualifications

Experience/Education

  • Completion of sufficient upper division coursework in business administration, public health or related –OR- the equivalent of 2-years of full time progressively responsible related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus in business administration, public health or related
  • Experience working with the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program and policies
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Experience working with low-income communities

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with SDSU Research Foundation

Offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion of a fingerprint clearance
