This Statement of Work covers the need for the services of a college student to provide technical and analytical support in the fields of Electrical, Mechanical/Ocean Engineering for the development of Deployable Arrays.  Several components shall be tested in experiments off the coast of southern California. Results of these tests will provide input for further design improvements. The nature of the work at the undergraduate/graduate level is to assist with tasks that shape the individual components of these systems. This task order consists of assistance in fabrication, testing, integration and assembly of lightweight underwater sensor packages and arrays of hydrophones.  Support is needed to generate prototype and final design model and drawing packages, assemble components, perform integration testing, test sensor subassemblies, and document any necessary manufacturing procedures.

  • Design cost-effective, sensor-related fixtures/molds and present preliminary designs with cognizant engineers
  • Produce engineering drawings or necessary detailed models with the assistance of mechanical engineers
  • Fabricate, evaluate, and perform initial testing of working prototype packages. This shall be considered “hands on” work
  • Generate and maintain manufacturing procedures for encapsulated sensor subassemblies
  • Assist with sensor assembly testing using typical laboratory equipment, such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and multimeters. This shall be considered “hands on” work
  • Record acoustic test data and conduct data analysis on tests stated above
  • Perform and document inspections of incoming mechanical parts/assemblies
  • Inventory all sensor-related electronic and mechanical components
  • Complete quality assurance of outgoing sensor-related equipment
  • Deliver Monthly Reports and Bi-Weekly Time Reports in accordance with CDRL from basic contract
