The Social-Health and Affective Neuroscience Lab (SHAN Lab; shanlaboratory.com; Director: Dr. Tristen Inagaki) conducts research on psychosocial determinants of health with a focus on social connection and neurobiological mechanisms linking the two. The lab includes multiple PhD and Master students from SDSU’s department of psychology and the SDSU/UCSD Joint Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology. Current research applies advanced functional MRI alongside behavioral, pharmacological, and ecological momentary assessment measures, to investigate social connection with close others.
Under supervision of the Principal Investigator, the postdoctoral scholar will engage in research related to social and health psychology that aims to understand neurobiological underpinnings of social connection.
Under supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Postdoctoral Scholar is provided mentored advanced training to enhance professional skills and research independence in the Post Doc's academic discipline. The Postdoctoral scholar is responsible for but not limited to:
Research Activities 85%:
Lead analysis of neuroimaging (fMRI), behavioral, and ecological momentary assessment data from a clinical research trial, involving a pharmacological manipulation with young adults (aged 18-25 years).
Assist with analysis of archival fMRI data focused on supportive behavior.
Prepare research reports for publication in collaboration with the Principal Investigator and other members of the lab.
Assist with data cleaning and data management.
Staff Supervision 10%:
Assist with training and supervising employees on the research team (e.g., research assistants, undergraduate and graduate students). Provide feedback on employee progress and performance, training, and coaching.
Other Duties and Responsibilities as assigned 5%
