Overview

The starting salary range for this position is $7,072.00 per month depending upon qualifications and is non-negotiable.

 

To lead a basic research laboratory and set up experiments; to help analyze the data, to formalize other topics and questions based on the analysis and to help write peer-reviewed publications of the results.

Responsibilities

The Research Specialist III with expected climb to Research Specialist IV is responsible for but not limited to:

 

Assist the work sponsor with performing data collection and analysis to determine the long-term efficiency and performance capabilities of the designed system(s) over 12, 24, 36, and 48 months. They shall suggest and incorporate ideas to harvest electricity to reach 300 mW, at a minimum, for 90 days.

 

Laboratory Testing, Analysis and Reporting:

Supervise conducting laboratory experiments, measurements, analyses, tests and evaluations, and, ideas for improvements on power performance. Oversee all of the basic research experiments and help determine conclusions as to which data are meaningful and deserve follow-up analysis.

 

Assist the work sponsor in reviewing, analyzing and documenting specific operational procedures, preparing recommendations for system improvements, forming requirements for future systems, and/or performing feasibility studies. Have an established track record in publishing and the desire to write peer-reviewed publications. 

 

Responsibility for themselves and oversight of other contractors as required.

 

Other Duties and Responsibilities as assigned; responsible to ensure laboratory safety and protocols are followed, ensuring nothing harmful put into sewer pipes or into storm water drains.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION:
Equivalent to graduation from a four year university

 

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
Three years of experience in technical research or statistical work experience

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Working knowledge of a variety of materials with an aim of decreasing use of expensive materials to less expensive materials. The capacity to consider SWAP (size, weight, and power).
  • Ability to write standard operating procedures
  • A capacity for written peer-reviewed publication (such as a thesis)
