The salary range for this position is $28.85 - $33.65 per hour ($60,000-$70,000 per year) depending upon qualifications and is non-negotiable.

This position is grant-funded up to three years. Continued employment is dependent on future funding.

KPBS serves the greater San Diego community with informative, cultural, entertaining and educational television, radio, and digital programming.  KPBS TV/FM is the public television and radio station for San Diego.  Licensed to San Diego State University, KPBS supports and furthers the university’s educational and community service mission by informing, enlightening and empowering its audience.  It does so not only by presenting national and locally produced programming of value to its San Diego audience, but also by producing programming about San Diego and its people for distribution nationwide.

Under the supervision of the Investigations/Digital Fellowship Editor, the Digital Fellowship Project Coordinator is responsible for managing various projects for the KPBS Digital Training Fellowship Program, which trains KPBS journalists on developing in-depth, digitally native content and engagement efforts that reach new and diverse audiences. These initiatives fit within KPBS’ overall commitment to provide quality local in-depth news and news analysis on all of its platforms (TV, Radio, Digital and Social) that impact San Diego & Imperial Counties and its residents.

The Digital Fellowship Project Coordinator coordinates the training, schedule, outside consultants and supporting resources for all fellows and fellowship projects. This includes collaboration with social media, communications and community engagement teams to create events and engagement that will grow and reach new audiences.

Working in collaboration with the Investigations/Digital Training Editor, this position helps to build a donor base dedicated to supporting enterprise/investigative/digital journalism by bringing new and diverse audiences to KPBS.

Project Coordination (40%)

• Administer and oversee multiple projects for KPBS’ Digital Fellowship Program
• Manage deliverables and deadlines to ensure projects are moving forward and on track
• Work with grants and development teams on grant reporting related to the Digital Fellowship Program 
• Coordinate with departments across the organization (web, digital, programming, communications/marketing) and outside consultants to set deliverables and ensure those deliverables are being met
• Research, interview and book external consultants; schedule presentations and meetings among consultants and internal teams
• Work with grants and finance teams to complete forms, payments and reimbursements necessary for staff and external consultants

Community Engagement/Audience Growth (35%) 

• Collaborate with events and community engagement teams on event strategy and support for digital fellowship projects
• Craft and manage callouts, surveys and other crowdsourcing tools in collaboration with digital fellows
• Manage/assist fellows in delivering audience insights and research on groups most impacted by fellowship projects
• Collaborate with KPBS Digital Teams on engagement tools for fellowship projects
• Build a sustainable workflow for continuing engagement and audience growth on individual projects
• Collaborate with Social Media team to leverage social platforms and elevate the Digital Fellowship projects 
• Stay up to date on current and emerging technologies

Support: (20%)

• Administer the Investigation Team (I-Team) secure tip line
• Assist with organizing and executing community outreach for I-Team
• Assist with grant writing and reporting as it relates to I-Team

Minimum Experience

• Three years of progressively responsible experience in an office or administrative environment 

Minimum Education

• Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent  work experience.
