Overview

  • This position is open until filled with an initial application review to take place after October 15, 2024. 
  • This position has a hybrid schedule of 2 in-office days per week and the incumbent must live in California within a commutable distance from San Diego State University upon time of hire.
  • The salary range for this position is $28.25 - $30.00 per hour depending upon qualifications and is non-negotiable.

WHAT OUR DEPARTMENT DOES

The Human Resources Department supports the Foundation’s mission by providing quality customer service and guidance in the areas of recruitment and onboarding, compensation and benefits administration, training, and employee relations. SDSURF HR strives to create a positive employee experience throughout the entire employee lifecycle. YOUR ROLE IN CREATING THE UNIVERSITY’S PRESENT AND FUTURE

Under the supervision of the HR Systems and Process Manager, the HR Process and Compliance Associate is responsible for performing a variety of administrative and technical tasks in the Human Resources department. These functions include preparing reports for audits, assisting in the development, documentation, and implementation of HR processes, maintaining and updating employee records, and coordinating the separation process and SDSURF Volunteer program. This position assists the HR Systems and Process Manager and supports the entire HR team to ensure compliance, meet established deadlines, complete assignments, and support the strategic direction of the department.

Responsibilities

THE WORK YOU WILL DO

The HR Systems and Compliance Associate is responsible for but not limited to:

  • Supporting the HR Systems and Process Manager in preparing reports and documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Assisting in the development, documentation, and implementation of HR processes and procedures.
  • Coordinating the SDSURF Separation workflow process, following up on incomplete tasks and communicating with the appropriate parties.
  • Coordinating the SDSURF Volunteer and Research Affiliate program.
  • Auditing, maintaining, and updating employee records.
  • Researching data in HRIS and Applicant Tracking systems; running scheduled reports and formatting for distribution.
  • Working closely with HR team members and other departments to ensure HR processes are seamless and documented accurately, recommending areas for improvement.
  • Providing support to the HR Systems and Process Manager and HRIS Admin Analyst.

  • Knowledge of state and federal employment laws.
  • Knowledge of principles and procedures for recruitment, selection, and applicant tracking.
  • Ability to track upcoming, ongoing, and past work assignments.
  • Ability to shift priorities and deadlines, juggling multiple and varied projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to display a professional presence and to effectively handle interpersonal relationships and sensitive HR issues.

Qualifications

Experience and Education

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources and/or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Previous experience working in an office or administrative environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with data management, auditing, or data validation
  • Experience with HRIS, applicant tracking systems, MS Office Suite, and Smartsheets
  • Previous experience working in an HR Department
