The salary range for this position is $16.85 per hour and in non-negotiable.

 

The purpose of the SDSU Annual Giving programs within SDSU Alumni is to demonstrably grow the base of engaged alumni as measured by volunteerism, alumni membership and number of annual donors. It also incorporates the mission of the SDSU Alumni Office, which is to foster a lifetime relationship between alumni and the university.

Responsibilities

SDSU Annual Giving is searching for a proactive and creative individual with a passion for making an impact to join our team as an SDSU Alumni Engagement Officer. The Engagement Officer will help the team drive student engagement and support philanthropy through events and marketing initiatives. Under the supervision of the Director of Annual Giving, the Engagement Officer plays a vital role in fostering lifelong connections with students, student groups, and the SDSU community. 

The SDSU Alumni Engagement Officer position is a 15-hour-per-week commitment to work on campus and remotely, on an as-needed basis. Working hours are between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. which is contingent on the student’s schedule with occasional work opportunities on evenings and weekends. Ideal candidates will fill this role until May 2025.

SPECIFIC DUTIES 

The SDSU Alumni Engagement Officer is responsible for but not limited to: 

Core Responsibilities 

Engagement – 60% 

  • Promote and explain our student philanthropy program, Aztec Proud, and other SDSU Alumni programs to students during events and tabling opportunities 
  • Assist with SDSU Alumni and Aztec Proud student philanthropy events during New Student Orientation, Move-In Day, GradFest, etc. 
  • Connect with other student groups on campus in support of their philanthropic initiatives Participate in the planning and endorsement of various service project opportunities on campus Responsible for donation transactions, proper cash handling, program fees, gift giveaways and organizational projects as assigned 

Campaign Outreach – 20% 

  • Connect with SDSU alumni, parents and prospects on priority initiatives and events 
  • Steward SDSU alumni, parents and prospects through video, email, call, text, events and social media
  • Create Crowdfunding campaigns for campus partners, to include on-campus/zoom meetings with student groups and organizations 

Position Specific Responsibilities 

Marketing – 15% 

  • Help execute Aztec Proud's social media strategy through content and community management
  • Assist in developing fundraising concepts, mock-ups and briefs for annual donor campaigns to include acquisition and renewals 
  • Assist in developing copy, images, multimedia projects, emails and texts that are directly targeted to student, alumni and parent segments 
  • Review email and direct mail proofs for accuracy 
  • Assist with video and photo shoots for fundraising initiatives 

Other Duties as Assigned – 5% 

  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Current enrollment as an undergraduate student at SDSU.
