PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Under the general direction of the Administrative Support Coordinator, this position provides lead nurturing and administrative support to the Admissions Department at SDSU Global Campus. This position carries a medium level of responsibility with regard to the information available to them; therefore, the candidate’s success is contingent upon their ability to maintain a high level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality at all times. 

 

Responsibilities

SPECIFIC DUTIES

The Student Assistant is responsible for independently performing numerous and varied day-to-day project activities:

 

LEAD NURTURING AND ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT (95%)

Excellent customer service, time management and communication skills, the ability to research and gather information from a variety of sources and condense in a meaningful way to provide students with support, encouragement and referrals to SDSU resources and services, as needed. Assist with recruitment and advising initiatives including outreach and yield campaigns, lead nurturing, and live chat. Ability to work well with a wide variety of individuals at all levels of interests and responsibilities and to work both independently and as a member of the team. This is a fast-paced environment; you will have a variety of products for your portfolio at the end of this assignment.

 

ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED (5%)

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Current enrollment as a student at SDSU.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS

  • Equivalent to two years of responsible office experience, which provides the above knowledge and abilities.
  • Administrative work experience.
  • Ability to display strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to execute high quality customer service techniques and practices
  • Ability to display strong math competency, application of databases, and computer spreadsheets.
  • Knowledge and proficiency using G Suite, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet application systems
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships within the University, Department and SDSU Research Foundation and with officials from external agencies. Must have the ability to communicate effectively both oral and written and possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential documents and information.
  • Ability to work independently, under general direction of the Fiscal and Operations Support staff, Department Chair, Institute Co-Directors and faculty. Possess good common sense.
  • Ability to review data for accuracy and completeness and make correcting entries.
  • Ability to maintain accounting of financial records.
  • Ability to interact effectively with co-workers.
  • Ability to understand and follow posted work rules and procedures
  • Ability to demonstrate traits of a highly motivated self-starter, with a high energy level.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of cross-cultural sensitivity.
