Overview

The salary range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00 per hour depending upon qualifications and is non-negotiable. 

 

The Girls PLAY (Positive Learning Activities for Youth) program aims to promote physical activity among girls living in the Imperial Valley region of California. This project will involve working with the Boys and Girls Club of Imperial Valley to develop, tailor, and examine the effect of the Girls PLAY out-of-school program among girls ages 8-10 years old.

 

Dr. Ashleigh Johnson (Principal Investigator) is currently seeking a part-time research assistant. Under direct supervision of Dr. Johnson, this research assistant will provide support on the Girls PLAY study. This student position is limited to an average of 9 hours per week during the academic year and 6 hours per week during the summer.

 

 

Responsibilities

The Research Assistant is responsible for but not limited to:

  • Communicating with the community partners
  • Assisting with study protocol development
  • Assisting with individual interviews (e.g., developing interview materials, conducting qualitative interviews, data analysis)
  • Assisting with data collection
  • Assisting with program delivery training
  • Recruiting/surveying participants in-person or over the phone
  • Maintaining study records

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at San Diego State University’s Imperial Valley campus.
  • Native Spanish speaker.
  • Lives in or a commutable distance from Imperial Valley.
  • Has a reliable mode of transportation.
  • Strong attention to detail and verbal communication skills.
