Overview

Under the direction of the Director of College Enrollment, the Grade Level Coordinator is responsible for working with students, parents, teachers, counselors, administrators, and other relevant persons to facilitate the creation of a college bound culture for their assigned grade on the Hoover High School campus. It will be necessary to work with contact persons in each school in the feeder pattern in order to ensure that the college bound culture is being created from elementary school on through high school and beyond.  Supports established standards around College and Career Readiness programming that leads to increased college enrollment and graduation rates. Assists with the implementation of college and career readiness plans that are specifically tied to school improvement and the student engagement initiative.

 

Grade level coordinated delivery of services:
Postsecondary Planning: college application coaching to determine best match/fit schools, 1:1 advising in college and financial aid, scholarship support, career exploration
Student Life: personal development, community service, strengths and dream exploration, meaningful summer experiences, social-emotional supports, cultural competency and awareness
Family Engagement: family workshops, 1:1 advising in college and financial aid planning 

Responsibilities

Outreach and Communication

  • Assist with Postsecondary Planning: college application coaching to determine best match/fit schools, 1:1 advising in college and financial aid, scholarship support, career exploration
  • Explore Student Life Opportunities: personal development, community service, strengths and dream exploration, meaningful summer experiences, social-emotional supports, cultural competency and awareness 
  • Assist with Family Engagement: family workshops, 1:1 advising in college and financial aid planning 
  • Reduce College Undermatching
  • Increase college preparation and exposure to postsecondary options
  • Increase CAC Scholar Recruitment and Family engagement
  • Assist with data collection for CAC Evaluation Plan

Collaboration and Planning 

  • Grade level academic requirements such as A-G HS graduation.
  • Hoover Academy academic to career pathways.
  • Community-based leadership opportunities.
  • Postsecondary Scholarship opportunities.
  • College specific Family engagement opportunities

Qualifications

  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in Social Services, Human Services, Education, Psychology or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • One-year of student services work experience or related field.

Preferred Experience:

Experience working with youth ages 14-19

Bilingual (English and Spanish or Vietnamese)
