Overview

Under general supervision, incumbents must have course work in the discipline requested on the task order Statement of Work.

 

The purpose of this task is to provide analytical and technical support services from students majoring in the fields of Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineer or Computer Engineering for the Command and Control Processor (C2P) Modernization (Mod) project. The purpose of this project is to provide support in the areas of software testing, automated test script development, and full software development lifecycle for the C2P Mod system.

 

The C2P Mod Integrated Product Team (IPT) is responsible for development of the C2P Mod system that supports tactical message routing for execution of Ballistic Missile Defense and Anti-Air Warfare missions aboard Navy ships and limited shore sites around the world. C2P Mod will primarily be developed in C++ programming language over a 4-year period of time partitioned in 5 increments where each segment of the code will go through extensive test and verification by a separate, and independent team. The current plan is to use cloud technologies as a basis for a testdriven development methodology, whereby software developers will create unit, or software component tests prior to submission into the build pipeline, that will then launch a series of automated code quality checks as well

Responsibilities

The student contractor shall assist the work sponsor

  • Investigation, analysis, and evaluation of technology to include, open source software, vendor products, academia, industry research, and Government software and systems.
  • Installing and integrating software applications and hardware components. Resolving workstation hardware and software challenges.
  • Performing software cycle support to include requirements, design, development, integration, testing, deployment, and documentation.
  • Producing reports on industry trends to include software and systems methodologies, security systems, and future technologies.
  • Conducting software testing via manual and automated methods.
  • Assisting in reviewing and documenting engineering best practices.
  • Submitting Monthly Status Reports and Bi-Weekly Time Reports in accordance with basic contract CDRL and task and contract requirements.

Qualifications

The student must be at the Junior or Senior level and have experience in 50% or 100% of the task requirements and be able to accomplish 50% 0r 100% of the work independently. Is not required to be an SDSU Student.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate Level 2 or 3: Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering major (rising Junior or Senior).
  • Proficient with a business productivity suite e.g. Microsoft Office.
  • Basic working knowledge of a software development process.
  • Working knowledge of computer hardware.
  • Working knowledge of the Windows (i.e. Win 10, Win 7) and RedHat Operating Systems.

Required Course Work:

  • Introduction to Computer Programing or Computer Engineering or Principles of Information Systems (or an equivalent course).

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Basic working knowledge of computer and networking protocols and communications theory and applications.
  • Basic knowledge of automated software test tools and test management framework such as Test Complete and Test Rail, respectively.
  • Basic working knowledge of document repositories to include Atlassian confluence.
  • Basic working knowledge of task management systems to include Atlassian JIRA.
  • Basic working knowledge of Cloud-based development environment using Bitbucket, Jenkins, and NEXUS tools.
  • Ability to develop decision analysis documentation based on software test findings.
  • Working knowledge of at least one programming language and demonstrates the ability to develop and compile source code, preferably C++.
