Under direction, incumbents must have course work in the discipline requested on the task order Statement of Work.


This Statement of Work covers the requirement for student services to provide technical and/or analytical support in the field of computer science for the Data Transformation Services (DaTS) Data Engineering project. The purpose of this project is to utilize various methods to transform raw data into useful data systems. For example, leverage DON COVID data to create algorithms, statistical analysis, and visualization via a COVID dashboard. The incumbent will work with cloud service providers to build a data engineering system based on cloud service offerings.


Background: The DATS Portfolio has a requirement to automate the ingestions, curation, availability and accessibility of decision-ready data. Data will be developed, managed, and integrated as a holistic entity.


The student shall assist the work sponsor in:

  • Analyzing and organizing raw data
  • Build data systems and pipelines
  • Conduct complex data analysis and report results e.g. Visualizations using dashboards
  • Evaluate business needs and objectives
  • Build out algorithms, prototypes and analytical tools
  • Combine raw information from different sources
  • Collaborate with data scientists, engineers and architects


Undergraduate Student 3: Must have course work in the discipline requested on the task order Statement of Work. The student must be at the Senior level and have experience in 100% of the task requirements and be able to accomplish 90% of the work independently.


  • Computer Science major (working on Masters or PhD)
  • And or a qualified Graduate Level 1 Computer Science Major
  • And or a very qualified senior Undergraduate Level 3 Computer Science Major

Required Course Work:

  • Knowledge of the following program languages is required:


  • JAVA

  • SQL


  • Data mining and modeling

  • Frameworks such as react or angular

  • Database Administration

  • Knowledge of DevSecOps Process to include

    • Release Management and automated pipelines

    • Story boarding

    • Quality Gateways (i.e. Code Analysis, SonarQube, Architecture etc.)

    • Build process

    • Deployment

    • Test cases and execution

    • Knowledge of DevOps tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, git, splunk etc



  • The COVID-19 vaccine is required by the CSU for all SDSU Research Foundation employees as a condition of employment. Should you be offered a position, you will be required to provide proof of vaccination status. Individuals who obtain an approved medical or religious exemption on file will be required to complete regular COVID-19 testing
  • This position will require the employee to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
  • Due to the regulations established by the Department of Defense, only US Citizens may qualify
  • This is a student position and is limited to working 20 hours per week
